How many hop-on hop-off bus operators are there in Cape Town?
There is one official operator: City Sightseeing Cape Town. They run four colour-coded routes covering the city, the coast, the Winelands and the CBD.
Where does the bus depart from?
The main departure point is Stop 1 at the V&A Waterfront (Long Street). You can also board at any other stop on the route.
Does the bus go to Table Mountain?
Yes. Stop 5 on the Red City Tour is the Table Mountain Cableway lower station. From there it's a 3-minute walk to the cable car.
Can I cancel my ticket?
Most resellers offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the activity. Check the cancellation policy on the booking page.
Are children free on the bus?
Children under 5 ride free without their own seat. Ages 5–17 need a child ticket (reduced price). From age 18, the adult price applies.
Do the buses run in winter?
The Red City Tour operates year-round. The Blue Mini Peninsula and Purple Wine Tour may be reduced or suspended in winter (June–August). Check the City Sightseeing app for the current schedule.
Is Wi-Fi available on the bus?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available on all City Sightseeing Cape Town buses.
Can I combine the bus with a trip to the Franschhoek Wine Tram?
The Franschhoek Wine Tram is about 75 km from Cape Town and not connected to the City Sightseeing bus network. It's a separate day trip. You can book the Wine Tram via GetYourGuide or Headout.
What's included in the ticket?
